Lot Marking / Lot Striping ...
Your parking lot is one of the first things customers notice when visiting your facility. The crisp contrast of a newly striped lot is attractive to your visitors and is a good indication that the property owner has a pride of ownership. In a sense it’s the face customers see first.
A well-marked parking lot directs people safely around the parking area. Crosswalks, stop bars, loading-zone markings, and properly marked pickup areas for customers who are boarding vehicles; inform pedestrians where they should walk, when to give right-of-way to traffic, and what areas to avoid.
To help preserve or improve the flow of traffic on a parking lot, Twin City Asphalt can either re-stripe or lay out new markings to fulfill the needs of your desired traffic patterns.
A Few Design Considerations:
- Maximize Space. A property owner wants to get the most cars possible into a parking lot in order to maintain cost-effectiveness. The right layout and striping can help meet this goal.
- Efficient Traffic Flow. Customers want parking lots that allow them to enter, park, and exit quickly and safely. Attractive and properly placed parking stalls, arrows, and handicapped-reserve signs help to efficiently direct travelers.
- Designated Parking. Before striping, it important to consider whether a parking lot needs designated parking spaces for disabled persons, customers, employees, visitors, or other individuals.

The Application Process:
Prior to the application of traffic paint the surface is cleaned from all dust and debris to insure proper bonding of the traffic paint. When new layouts are necessary, pavement markings are accurately measured and marked. On re-striping of existing lines, existing stripes are located and marked.
Pavement markings are placed using air spray equipment or a gravity striping machine which insures uniform line width, clean edges, and proper paint coverage rates. Twin City Asphalt is equipped with all the necessary equipment needed for the application of the different types of traffic paint.
Material used to exceed federal specification TT-P-85E or TT-P-1952B
1. Heavy Yellow and White Alkyd: Solvent based traffic paint. Although this paint may be durable, bleeding often occurs when applied over freshly seal coated areas. Freshly seal coated areas are recommended to cure overnight before application of traffic paint.
2. Chlorinated Rubber -(White & Yellow) : Solvent based traffic paint. This paint is recommended for new asphalt or seal coated asphalt that has cured over 60 days. Although this product is perhaps the most durable paint, bleeding has occurred when place over freshly seal coated areas.
3. Freshcote - Yellow and White Latex : Latex base traffic paint. Latex paint is not as durable as solvent based paint but may be applied to freshly seal coated areas without a bleed occurring.
